Preparing for the Worst, Hoping for the Best

Posted on September 10, 2017 by Sydney Rose

Well it’s almost D-day, we’re just hours off from the landfall. I’ve been watching the news religiously. I still can’t believe that this happening–it’s like a nightmare in the making. Unfortunately, the brunt of the storm decided to come toward us. It honestly couldn’t get much worse than this. I have no idea when I’ll be returning (if I can even return). I’m hoping the damage isn’t horrible, but then again it’s a pretty serious hurricane so who knows. I’ve already decided that I am going to volunteer and help clean up once this monster is all over. It is so crucial and important to give back. I pray for all of those who decided not to evacuate. It is going to be incredibly painful to watch everything get damaged and people die from their stupid mistakes. At the same time, everything happens for a reason I believe and each experience makes us stronger. Of course, there are those who don’t learn their lesson but the ones that do–that pays off majorly. You just have to stay positive, and move forward. You cannot dwell on the unknown or it will make you crazy. Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best.

I’m originally from Florida, Cocoa Beach. My cousin can’t leave because of medical machines he has to have. Sometimes the only choices we have to choose are bad ones…we still have to choose. Hold fast Florida!

I think this is amazing that you’re writing about this. It really gives people who don’t live in the affected areas a perspective on how real and scary it is. Best wishes for you!!
